Pensacola, FL Air Conditioning Repair & Service

Pensacola is a mid-sized city in northwest Florida and is the county seat of Escambia County. It is located just south of Interstate 10 and is minutes away from Alabama. The city is home to the University of West Florida, and a major naval air station that is home to the Blue Angels is just outside its limits.

History

The Pensacola area was first settled by the Spanish in the mid-1500s. They wanted to use the area as a stopping point for ships headed from Mexico to colonize points farther north along the Atlantic coast. After a hurricane had devastated this settlement, the Spanish abandoned the area before establishing a town at the modern site of Pensacola in 1698.

In the early 1700s, control of the area shifted between the Spanish, French, and British. With the British firmly in control after 1763, they rebuilt the city in its modern layout following a hurricane that had destroyed much of the area. During the American Revolution, Florida remained loyal to the British, but was invaded by Spain. It was sold to the newly formed United States shortly after the end of the Revolutionary War.
